SHOT Show Recap Part 1

SHOT Show 2025 is now complete and was a great start to a great year.

Once again DB&Y opened the show at the Lipsey's Guns booth for the second year in a row.  Special Shout Outs to Jason Cloessner, Rob Abruzzino and the whole Lipsey's family.  If you are an FFL and not signed up as a Lipsey's dealer you are missing out! Check out the Podcast from the SHOT Show floor here.

Lots of new and exciting releases this year.  The one Team AFR is most proud of is the Ultimate Carry Ti series.  The rise in popularity of 32H&R Magnum has been meteoric!  The special editions from Smith and Wesson feature the AFR ‘Undercover' grips from Hamre Forge.  DB and Y spent month's of prototyping to get these stocks just right and they are now featured on the UC Ti line.  We couldn't be happier with how this came together and we are forever grateful for Jason Cloessner and Andrew Gore going out on a limb for AFR to make it happen.  Available in the 432 and 632 and weighing in at 13oz it is truly a purpose built EDC gun.

Next up was the Mountain Gun Series.  A reboot of a modern classic revolver.  Featuring American Walnut stocks from Tyler Gun Works and a brass bead front sight the value proposition of this gun is incredible.  Considering the cost of the used guns nowadays this is an absolute home run.  It also allows us wheel gunners to shoot guns covered by a warranty that are dare I say replaceable unlike the older versions we all love. Available in 357 Magnum 686+& Shot and the timeless 629 44mag, you won't want to miss out on these guns.

Smith and Wesson also dropped a seriously excellent suprise on the gun world with their ‘Classic's' No Lock line.  The Model 19, Model 10 and Model 36 no lock are certain to become best sellers for 2025.  Now I can retire most of my aging fleet of vintage guns and rely on these for future endeavors in training and shooting.  There is starting to be a theme here.  Time to relegate the vintage guns to the collector front and shoot the heck out of these.

So our time at SHOT was perfect.  Thanks to the continuing support from our subscribers and industry partners we were able to be on the ground floor of what we believe is a modern revolution of wheelguns. Your subscription has put AFR in front of the people that can make the guns you want.  We would also like to you to know that many of the “people” that design these guns monitor this page and what you the subscribers have created is a place where experts gather and exchange ideas without the drama and naysayers. Thank you Team!

I can't close this brief article without mentioning some exciting things on the horizon from Colt, Taurus and Ruger and some others we have been in contact with.  As we move forward into 2025 stay tuned for so much more cool stuff coming.  Stay tuned for part 2.

BrYan, was there time to visit any other revolver related booths? See anything interesting?

From media coverage it seemed little to nothing new from Colt, Ruger and Taurus but that just means maybe NRA or mid-late year reveals.

I don’t know what’s going on at Colt but they had several new offerings with red dot mounts on Pythons etc.

At some point soon, Colt has to come out with a lightweight Cobra/DS/Agent with a real boot grip. Taurus and Kimber did it.

One would think but aluminum has been tought lately due to the Ukraine conflict and supply line interuptions

Just what I’m looking for, a red dot for all my most gorgeous revolvers!

I shouldn’t be such a fudd about handgun optics; lots of people use them and really like them.

I’ve used them for years on and off and I think theyre finally pretty good. My first was a tasco pro point on a dan wesson 44mag in 1992. Fun times!

Looking forward to part 2. It is a golden age for revolver nerds. Now decision is which one to get first.

…or figuring what order in which to arrange funding for all of them.

Boy howdy, ain’t that the truth! LOL!

Any chance for the shield arms roc to be reviewed?

  4. Sean R on January 26, 2025 at 5:50 pm

Hopefully Smith will sell that .32 ti cylinder on it’s own.

    • BrYan on January 26, 2025 at 6:27 pm

Not likely. Check with Aprx and others. They rarely sell parts directly to the public now thanks to Lawyers

I’m not a fan of the pencil barrel look. The lock isn’t a deal breaker for me, so if I was going to buy a new Model 10 to replace my old ones, I’d get one with the lock (and the heavy barrel).

Lipsey’s is killing it with promoting .32 H&R. I already have the new .32 H&R LCR on the way, and I’d be interested in a .32 H&R Ultra-Lite model from Taurus if they ever make one. I’ve been very satisfied with my Taurus 327.

Looking forward to the Ultimate Carry Model 632 Ti I have on order. I’m expecting it to be well worth the cost. Much thanks to Darryl and Bryan for their input into these revolver projects.
